Kebede is an ambassador of WHO (Women Helping Others), an organization that encourages women everywhere to help others through volunteer service. Supporting organizations dedicated to women, children and families. She also works for «Glamour Gals«, this foundation, with it slogan more than makeup and manicures, inspires and organizes teen volunteers to provide ongoing companionship and complimentary beauty makeovers to women living in senior homes.
Since 2005, she has her own foundation, Liya Kebede. She fights really hard to reduce mortality in mothers, children, and newborns in Africa and other parts of the world. She believes every woman deserve the best opportunity for safe motherhood. The mission is to save moms by promoting better access to maternity care. She decided to help moms because nearly 300,000 mothers die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth every year and 1 million newborns die on their birthday in Africa. Each mother leaves an average of 4 orphaned children behind whose health, education and future suffer.
Sadly not all models are on this path, we feel very honored to introduce the story of Kebede, her life is a reflection of how a public figure can make a lot of difference in the world.
